On Wednesdays, We Breathe

It's all better now!
Hiya, Friends!  See, it's all better.  It's Wednesday the Fourteenth, and all those things are better than Tuesday the Thirteenth.  Sorry I got a little bug-eyed atchya yesterday.

Tuesday the Thirteenth gets up in my head sometimes.  Strange things happen on Tuesday the Thirteenth.  So sometimes, I lose my mind a little bit.

So on Wednesdays, I breathe.  I take a breath and am happy to have made it through Tuesday.  You can, too, Friends.

Tuesdays can be crazy.  Especially Tuesdays the Thirteenth.  But it's Wednesday the Fourteenth now, and on Wednesdays, we breathe.  I love ya lots, Big People!  See ya tomorrow!  Muah!

Tuesday the Thirteenth

Oh, no!  It's Tuesday the Thirteenth!
Friends, today is Tuesday the Thirteenth.  In my opinion, Tuesday the Thirteenth is so much worse than Friday the Thirteenth.

Well, because who actually really likes Tuesdays, anyways?  They're already worse than Fridays.  Then add in all the stuff that goes on when it's the Thirteenth of anything, and also I swear that something is in retrograde... I don't think it's just a planet in retrograde.  I think it's a whole galaxy in retrograde, Friends.  Holy smokes.

And today's Tuesday the Thirteenth.

Forget all that stuff about don't step on sidewalk cracks and avoid walking under ladders.  I say just curl up and stay inside with a good book on Tuesday the Thirteenth. People get kinda mean.  That's the thing ya hafta worry about.  Gettin' all snapped at.  If you're at home, readin' a good book, not only are ya happier, but you're not out and about gettin' snapped at, and you're also not part of the problem, doin' the snappin.

Tuesday the Thirteenth, Friends- just lay low.  Soon enough it'll be Tomorrow, and a New Day!

I love ya lots, Big People!  I'll see ya tomorrow!  Muah!

Darn Monday, Anyway!

Sometimes, Monday really bugs me!
Friends!  Is it already dang ol' Monday already?  Where the heck did the weekend go?

You know, sometimes I take this Monday thing a lot better than other days.  Sometimes I can be even downright chipper about Monday.

Not today.

Today, the me that is all chipper about Monday annoys the me that is made angry by Monday.  So I'm just a little ball of fun right here, Friends.

I suppose Mommy's gonna try to make me take a stupid nap to turn my disposition around.  That's only gonna make the Monday worse.  Add insult to injury.  And you know what?  She can put me up in my room, but she CAN'T make me sleep.  She can't keep me from dancin' and takin' all the socks outta my sock drawer, and strewin' my stuffies all over the floor, and unfolding all the legwarmers and unpairin' 'em.  You see, Mommy might think she's takin' care of my bad disposition on this Monday by puttin' me up in sleepy jail, but in reality, she's only makin' things a whole lot worse for herself.

Stupid Monday, anyways!

I'll see ya tomorrow, Friends!

Ten-Eleven!

On Counting Days, I like to sing songs about numbers!
Hiya, Friends!  Didja know that today's Ten-Eleven?  That's almost a Counting Day!  I mean, it would be a Counting Day if it were Ten-Eleven-Twelve.  But it's Ten-Eleven-Fifteen, so I dropped the Fifteen.

It's still enough of a Counting Day for me!

Counting Days on the calendar are really fun, because it gets me thinking about numbers and how numbers work together to make math.  It's really fascinating if you approach it in such a manner!

It also makes me think of one of my favorite jokes of all time.  Do you wanna hear it?  Sure!

Okay.  Why is Six afraid of Seven?  Do you know?  Because SEVEN EIGHT NINE!  Oh my goodness!  The humanity!  Or the numerosity!  How ever you're lookin' at it!

Friends, there's room for silliness, even in numbers and numbery things.  Remember that on this Close Enough to a Counting Day, mmmkay?  I love ya lots!  I'll be seein' ya tomorrow, mmmkay?  Muah!

Dance, Dance: Revolution!

I am my own Tiny Dancer!
Hiya, Big People!  Happy Saturday to you!

Well, ya know, I've loved to dance my whole entire life.  I love the way it makes me feel.  I love to move myself through the air and across the floor!  I love wearin' flouncy tutu-skirts and twirly dresses!

I don't like bein' told what to do.

Hear me out.

It isn't that I CAN'T follow directions.  I sure can, when I want or need to.  That isn't what this is about.  I don't have a problem with authority or with followin' authority's directions.

I love dancin' for the fun of dancin'.  I love dancin' for the joy of it, and for me, dancin' is pure joy.  I've thought about enrolling myself in a dance class, and I know a lotta little girls my age go to dance classes, but I just don't think that's me.

Well, I just feel like when I dance, I set my soul free, and if I were in a class where a dance instructor was yellin' at me or tellin' me my feet weren't in the right position, I'd be puttin' my soul in a cage while I was tryin' to set my soul free.  It isn't as though I lack discipline, but I DO lack the desire to be a dancer professionally.  I just like to dance because it's fun.  I like to move to the music, and sometimes the music I'm moving to is music only I can hear. That's okay.

I know a lot of Little Girls like me love their dance classes, and they love bein' part of a routine in a group, and I love that they love that.  I love watchin' those kinds of dancers.  I really do.

But I'm Zoe Elizabeth Blake.  I am a twirling tetradecagon peg that just isn't gonna fit in a triangular or square or round hole.  And that's okay by me.

I love ya lots, Big People!  And I'll see ya tomorrow!  Muah!

Ten-Thousand Pageviews!

Ten-thousand views?!  That's a lotta thousands of views!
Hiya, Friends!  Happy Friday, of course!

This is something that isn't readily apparent to you, my dear Friends who stop by to check on me, but it's something I see, every time I log in to write to you, and I'm all excited about it:

I have ten-thousand pageviews!  Isn't that something?

That means that since I started TDZBlog in 2012, people have had their eyes on my page ten thousand times!  Do you have any idea how much of a Big Cheese something like this makes this Little Kid feel like?

My friends and family have stopped in to look in on me ten thousand times! I'll betchya there's been some hackers from places like China and North Korea and Russia stopping by, too.  That's just Something.  Hiya, Hackers!  Nothing to see here!  Just the musings of a Little Kid livin' the dang ol' Dream! here!  Go ahead and movealong!

I'm gonna go celebrate this ten-thousand views milestone with some of my friends today.  But I'll be back tomorrow. I love ya lots, Big People!  Thanks for stickin' with me all this time!  Muah!

Back On This Pumpkin Spice Thing Again

I wasn't joking. Pumpkin Spice can be kinda basic.
Hiya, Big People!  Happy Thursday to you!

Well, ya know, not everybody appreciated what I had to say about Pumpkin Spice being the Spice Girl that 2015 Deserves the other day.  Boy, howdy, was it not appreciated by everybody.

If I were a celebrity, I'd explain this away by saying that my words were taken out of context and that I was just joking when I inferred that Pumpkin Spice Everything, Yoga Pants, Ugg Boots, Infinity Scarves, and Long-sleeved White Fitted Tunic-Tops are basic.  I could say I was just joking and that everything was taken out of context, but I wasn't.  Heck, I didn't even infer that those things are basic.  I'm pretty sure I came right out and said it out loud.

Apparently, I struck a nerve with some people who are devoted to all those things, which makes me really glad I didn't add in NorthFace vests to my list of basic things that Pumpkin Spice: The Spice Girl 2015 Deserves would accessorize herself with, because in addition to the Pumpkin Spice Everything people and the yoga pant people and the people who looooooove Ugg boots, and the people who aren't seen without an infinity scarf, EVER, and the people who would buy stock in long-sleeved white fitted tunic tops if they were stock-buying people are rabid enough without getting NorthFace all up in my face, too.

Dear me, Friends.  You know, I was going for a laugh, and I was using my humor to hold a mirror up to Us in 2015.  If the reflection seemed a little basic, I was only letting the mirror give back what we've given it.  Sometimes, real mirrors tell us stuff we don't wanna know, like that we really did have spinach between our front teeth the whole time we were talking to that person we try so hard to impress.

Here's the thing, Friends, for the record, I have nothing against the things I said were basic.  I think there's a time and place for yoga pants.  I've heard tell that UGG boots are really warm.  I'm a giant fan of the tunic.  I enjoy pumpkin spice in things... not in everything, but in some things.  I own some infinity scarves myself, and I wouldn't be without 'em in the bone-chilling dead of winter.  NorthFace, I haven't gotten into yet, but I have a nicey warm Carter's coat I'll be wearin' for my third winter in a row, so maybe someday, I'll invest in a NorthFace coat.  I don't know.

I think the thing that makes me make fun of those things is their ubiquity.  And a lot of times, they're ubiquitously together.  If you don't think that makes 'em a little basic, you're fooling yourself.  And it's okay that they're basic.  It's also okay to swap out some of those things for something else, once in a while.  Why would you want yourself to announce that you're #basicSquadGoals every day of your life?  There's only one you!  It's okay to be individual!

And for the Authentic hashtag lobby that I apparently alienated, I'm sorry, but #Authentic is overused so much that if I took a swigga my Pumpkin Spice Bambinoccino EVERY TIME someone mentions #Authentic, or is living #Authentic, or is authentically #Authentic, I'd be #authentically floating right the heck off my #authentic high-horse, Friends.

It's okay to laugh at ourselves, People.  We're a ridiculous bunch, when ya get right down to it.  I just want us all to take our ridiculosity just a little less seriously.  That's all I'm out to accomplish with my Pumpkin Spice: The Spice Girl 2015 Deserves project.  That's all!

I love ya just the same, Friends!  I'll be back tomorrow!  Muah!
